Wall drawing: text, ink correction tape, photos on wall

I asked residents to tell me stories about sites they remembered, and I went in search of places that weren’t there any more- 15 blocks of riverfront torn down in a 1960’s urban renewal project, high schools that had been turned into condominiums, the former courthouse where one visitor told me how he remembered walking slowly up the steps, trying to decide whether to answer his draft notice to serve in the Vietnam war. I mapped my vicarious encounters with these Minneapolis stories onto the walls of the installation space.

This section records several generations’ relationship to “First Ave,” a really important music club where Prince filmed his movie “Purple Rain.”
